Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. She has covered several notable reports over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and The Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
